Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze
In the midst of the war at that time the
Uzumaki clan of Ushiogakure (whirlpool village) who was famous for
their sealing techniques and extraordinary chakra, were completely wiped
out. However, Kushina Uzumaki from the Uzumaki clan was sent to Konoha
at a young age to be the second Jinchuriki of the ninetails. She was
enrolled in to the Konoha academy where she would proclaim that her goal
in life is to become the first female Hokage. The students laughed at
her and called her a “tomato” because with her round face and flaming
red hair, well she resembled one. Of course, she beat the living crap
out of them and gained the title of Red-Hot Habanero.
At some point in her life, she was
kidnapped by a bunch of Kumogakure ninja because of her extraordinary
chakra. While she was being taken to Kumogakure, she furtively pluck out
her hair strands leaving a trail hoping someone would find her. And
that someone was Minato Namikaze who went to academy with her (also a
fellow who was determined to gain acknowledgement of the village and
become hokage), though Kushina wasn’t very fond of him then and called
him a “wimp” and thought he was girly. Which is a fabulous observation,
if I do so say myself.
After she was rescued by Minato who
picked up on her red hair trail, Kushina thought he was the bravest
shinobi. He was also the first one to compliment her hair and told that
he “noticed the beautiful hair right away”. Kushina was so totally
hooked and they both fell in love.
Minato also trained under Jiraiya, one of the Legendary Sannin, with his team and much later became the fourth Hokage.
Team Minato (Kakashi, Obito and Rin) – The Incident at the Kannabi Bridge.
Obito Uchiha who became a chuunin at the
age of eleven, was a craven ninja of Team Minato who always gave
excuses for his tardiness. Though he was from the prominent clan of
Uchiha, he had had not awakened his Sharingan and was rather weak
compared to normal Uchihas. His teammate Kakashi Hatake the son of the
White Fang, was the exact opposite of Obito. Kakashi was calm,
collected, and obnoxious and let’s just say he had a personality of a
dry toast. Kakashi was also highly skilled and sometimes a bit blunt in
his words. The other one was Rin the kunoichi of the team who acquired
medical skills. And she had feelings for Kakashi. And Obito had feelings
for Rin. And I believe Kakashi gave no shit about either of them. It’s
lovely.
It happened at the era of Third Shinobi World War.
Team Minato gathered for their mission and it was also when Kakashi
became a Jounin. To congratulate him, Minato gave him a custom made
kunai and Rin gave him a medical pack. And Obito being Obito had
completely forgotten but brushed it off saying that he just didn’t get
him one.
Team Minato was assigned a mission to
destroy the Kannabi Bridge which the Iwagakure were using as means of
supply. To make the mission more efficient Minato divided the Team in to
two; Rin and Obito with Kakashi as the captain, and Minato by himself.
Both teams would travel together to the boarder and then Kakashi, Obito
and Rin were to sneak in to the enemy’s backline and destroy the bridge
while Minato would face the frontline to distract the enemy.
Near the border, they would encounter a couple of Iwagakure ninjas (capable of camouflage technique)
who were concealing themselves. Minato being the kickass, could not
only touch the ground and determine the number of enemies but also
concluded that they were shadow clones. While Obito was literally crying
his eyes out with his giant goggles on during this encounter, Kakashi
would reveal his newly invented jutsu; chidori. Being hasty and
wanting to flaunt his new technique, Kakashi went against Minato’s
orders and went on a chidori rampage after the opponents. After
“killing” a bunch of shadow clones, one of the enemies was this close to attacking Kakashi when Minato saved his ass. Minato would then use his Shunshin No Jutsu (which gave him the title of Yellow Flash) and kill the enemy.
Minato forbade Kakashi to use chidori
since the high speed makes it impossible to see the enemy’s attack and
therefore, was considered an incomplete technique.
Side Story – The Story of Kakashi’s Father, Sakumo Hatake the White Fang.
While they stayed for a night’s rest,
Minato enlightened Obito of the story of Sakumo the White Fang.
Apparently, Sakumo and his team were assigned a top secret mission to
infiltrate the enemy’s territory. And during the mission, Sakumo was
challenged with a situation where he could either save his comrade or
continue and finish the mission. Even though the ninja rules stated that
the success of a mission must be a ninja’s first priority, Sakumo chose
to abort the mission and save his comrades. This caused a great loss
for Konoha and his comrades in the village blamed him. Unable to carry
such a burden, Sakumo committed suicide.
This event took a great toll on young
Kakashi and from thereon, Kakashi became a little asshole-ish and
prioritized following rules and regulations above everything else.
At the break of morning, the two teams
split as both teams went different paths to carry out their assignments.
It was then Kakashi’s team stumbled upon two Iwagakure ninjas. They
kidnapped Rin and the dispute between Obito and Kakashi aroused. Obito
wanted to go after the enemies and save Rin, however Kakashi wanted to
continue the mission saying that the success of their mission comes
first. Kakashi was obviously willing to sacrifice Rin to ensure that
their mission was complete. It didn’t take much for Obito’s
fuck-this-shit-I’m-out-O-meter to crash and said that beautiful quote we
all Narutards remember up to day, “Those who break the rules and regulations are scum. But those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum.” Obito also stated how he believed that Sakumo was a true hero and went off a different direction to rescue Rin on his own.
It turns out Obito’s words had a great
effect on Kakashi. Kakashi realized how right Obito was and had a change
of heart. Kakashi arrived just in time to save Obito who was being
attacked by an Iwagakure ninja, but costing Kakashi’s left eye as the
enemy’s attack took hit. During this battle of two against one, Obito
awakened his sharingan (finally!) and was able to detect the
camouflaging enemy and thus defeated him.
Obito and Kakashi went to the little
cave where the other Iwagakure ninja had kept Rin under a genjutsu.
Obito and Kakashi did a complementing combination of attacks and fought
the enemy. They finally saved Rin but were cornered as the Iwagakure
ninja did an Earth technique causing the rocks of the cave to collapse.
While they were running towards the exit
Kakashi tripped. Obito practically threw the fallen Kakashi away from a
falling giant rock, causing him to be crushed underneath it instead.
As if a talking half crushed man with
half functioning brain and balls wasn’t ridiculous enough, Obito had
asked Rin to surgically remove his own eyes and implant them to
Kakashi’s. Kakashi who was overwhelmed with guilt and emotions, was
given his team mate’s sharingan. He would then defeat the Iwagakure
ninja using the sharingan and chidori.
As the enemy’s reinforcements were
arriving, they couldn’t escape with Obito (or what’s left of him).
Kakashi and Rin had to leave the area leaving behind their friend.
Kakashi was able to defeat the enemies and complete the mission as
Minato arrived and reunited with them.
Obito Uchiha died that day, just when he
activated his sharingan. He died unable to confess his feelings to Rin.
And most of all, he died just when he and Kakashi was becoming friends.
His name was engraved in to the memorial stone of Konoha as a hero who died for his village. And Kakashi became known as the hero with the sharingan.
The Incident of the Kyuubi’s Attack
At some point, Minato and Kushina got
married and were expecting their first child. Minato after having read
Jiraiya’s “The Tale of the Gutsy Ninja” was very inspired by the main
character of the story and decided to name their unborn child after him.
Jiraiya worriedly told them that “Naruto” was just a name he came up
with while he was eating ramen. H vowever, Minato stated that he wanted
his child to grow just like the brave character in the book and Kushina
thought that Naruto was a beautiful name. They also chose Jiraiya as
their unborn son’s godfather.
Kushina was to give birth in a remote
location as secretive as possible because the Nine Tail’s seal would
become weak during child birth. She would give birth at the outskirts of
Konoha within a barrier with ANBUs guarding the area. While Kushina was
heading out, she met Mikoto Uchiha who was carrying her baby, Sasuke
Uchiha. Kushina would state that she hopes Naruto and Sasuke to become
bestfriends.
While she was giving birth with the
help of a medic and village elder, Minato helped to keep the seal from
breaking. After some heavy pushing and very fascinating insults to
Minato later, Naruto Uzumaki was born.
Minato and Kushina were too busy
focusing on suppressing the Kyuubi to realize that a mysterious masked
man who was sly enough to slip through the barrier and kill the guards,
had knocked out the medic and the elder and taken Naruto hostage.
Minato dashed to save Naruto on instinct
and Tobi took the chance to escape with Kushina. Minato teleported
Naruto to a safer place and went off the save Kushina. Meanwhile, this
masked man named Tobi had extracted Kyuubi from Kushina. Kushina being
an Uzumaki who had inherited the high endurance, managed to survive the
extraction. Tobi had tried to kill Kushina using the Kyuubi but was
saved in time by Minato who would later teleport Kushina to Naruto.
Minato would then go to fight Tobi and defend Konoha where Tobi had
summoned the ninetails.
During his fight with the masked man, he would discover that the masked man not only can perform the Space-Time Ninjutsu
but also was better at it than him or Nidaime. After Minato rasengan-ed
the masked man and broke off his contact with the Kyuubi, he woud
escaping warning that the Kyuubi would be his once more.
Minato would then teleport Kyuubi to
Kushina’s location where they would decide that sealing the Kyuubi
within Naruto was the best choice. Minato also believed that the masked
man would bring catastrophe to the ninja world and their son, Naruto
would be the savior and the Child of Prophecy. Minato used a Shiki Fuin
on the Kyuubi and a Hakke Fuin to seal the rest of ninetails and
conscious of both Minato and Kushina in Naruto. Kushina would tell how
much she loved Naruto and give all kinds of crazy advice before Minato
ended both their lives.
